Background
- Chronic condition caused by recurrent or persistent bleeding into the subarachnoid space, which causes hemosiderin deposits
- Slowly progressive neurodegenerative condition
- Classified into cortical or infratentorial
Clinical Manifestations
- Average time from onset to diagnosis is 1 to 10 years
- Initially presents with sensorineural hearing loss and slowly progressive cerebellar ataxia
- The classic triad, which is uncommon, including hearing loss, ataxia, and myelopathy
- Symptoms progress chronically and slowly
