- Gram-positive anaerobic bacillus, spore-forming, within the phylum Firmicutes and family Lachnospiraceae
- Originally found in pig and turtle feces, but also human GI tract
- Generally susceptible to piperacillin-tazobactam, ertapenem, and metronidazole
- Generally resistant to penicillin
