Background
- Antimalarial medication
- Indications include malaria and Pneumocystis
Dosing
- Note: in Canada, the form is as a phosphate oral tablet, where 26.3 mg is equivalent to 15 mg primaquine base
- Malaria: 30 mg p.o. daily for 14 days, in conjunction with other appropriate antimalarial
- Pneumocystis jirovecii: 30 mg p.o. once daily in combination with clindamycin for 21 days
Renal Dosing
- No dose adjustments.
Safety
- For G6PD deficiency, should be avoided or dose-reduced
