Phthirus pubis

• Also known as crabs
• Transmitted person-to-person, primarily by sexual contact
• Causes pruritis
• Diagnosis is made by identification of lice or nits
• Patient should be screened for other sexually-transmitted infections
• Treatment is with permethrin
