PREDICT score
From IDWiki
Background
- Tool used to predict risk of infective endocarditis in patients with Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia and therefore the need for transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)
Criteria
Day 1
Item | Score |
---|---|
Intracardiac Prosthesis | |
ICD or prosthetic heart valve | 2 |
PPM | 3 |
None | 0 |
Onset of Bacteremia | |
Community | 2 |
Healthcare | 1 |
Nosocomial | 0 |
Day 5
Item | Score |
---|---|
Intracardiac Prosthesis | |
ICD or prosthetic heart valve | 2 |
PPM | 3 |
None | 0 |
Onset of Bacteremia | |
Community | 2 |
Healthcare | 1 |
Nosocomial | 0 |
Other | |
Bacteremia ≥72 hours | 2 |
Interpretation
- Day 1 ≥4: needs TEE
- Day 1 <4: reassess at day 5
- Day 5 ≥2 (community-onset or CIED or prolonged bacteremia): needs TEE
- Day 5 <2 (nosocomial or healthcare-associated without CIED and bacteremia resolves quickly): can defer TEE
