- A form of noninfectious endocarditis
- Also known as marantic or Libman-Sacks endocarditis
- Rare
- Associated with advanced malignancy in 80% of cases followed by lupus
- Other associated diseases include antiphospholipid syndrome, rheumatic arthritis, sepsis, and burns
- Fever is uncommon
- Embolizes to spleen, kidney, skin, and extremities, as well as to CNS and coronary arteries
