Management
- Weight loss is the mainstay of treatment, through calorie restriction with or without exercise
- Patients should avoid heavy alcohol intake
Pharmacologic Therapy
- Pioglitazone can be helpful
- Can consider vitamin E 800 IU/day in NASH without diabetes or cirrhosis
- Do not use metformin, and there is insufficient evidence for GLP-1 agonists
- No recommendations yet for vitamin E in general NASH patients
- No recommendations yet for omega-3 fatty acids
