Background
- Gram-negative bacillus within the genus Klebsiella
- Closely related to Klebsiella pneumoniae
Management
- As with other Klebsiella species, it is intrinsically resistant to ampicillin
- Generally susceptible to other antibiotics, though can acquire resistance genes
