Hip bursa injection

Indications
- Greater trochanteric bursitis
Procedure
Preparation
- 40mg prednisolone in 2mL of 2% lidocaine
Position
- Patient on side, bend hips and knees at 90 degrees
Landmark
- Palpate greater trochanter
Clean
- Clean skin
Injection
- Aim just below the greater trochanter
- Insert needle up to hub (generally doesn't go far enough to hit bone) and inject bit by bit in a circle
