Background
- A form of subacute or chronic osteomyelitis that typically presents in children and young adults
- Most commonly in tibia and femur (75% of cases), but can affect essentially bone
Microbiology
- Staphylococcus aureus (65%)
- Culture negative (25%)
- Rare causes: Salmonella, Kingella kingae, Pseudomonas
