Background
- A single set of blood cultures is typically collected with two bottles, one perforated bottle for aerobic growth and one sealed for anaerobic growth
- Each bottle needs 10-20 mL of blood
Interpretation

- If only the anaerobic bottle is positive, about 60% are contaminants
