Background
- Bacteria growing in urine culture without evidence of infection
- Common, especially in older patients
Management
- Only requires treatment in pregnancy (see Asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy) and prior to invasive urological procedures
- Sometimes done for renal transplant patients, but overall evidence likely favours harm
