  • Spiral Gram-negative bacillus
  • GI flora of cats and dogs
  • Rare cases of bacteremia and diarrhea in humans, usually immunocompromised
  • Likely susceptible to beta lactams, can be resistant to metronidazole
    • Beta lactam/beta lactamase combination is most reliable
    • Ceftriaxone likely also reliable
